Smaller charities often lack the cyber security resources that their larger counterpart businesses have and this can make them a tempting as well as a reasonably easy target for cyber criminals such as fraudsters and extortionists.

The 2019 DCMS breach survey by UK Gov reported that 22% of charities (2 in 10 charities) identified cyber security breaches or attacks in the last 12 months.
The average annual cost or charities that lost data or assets after breaches were £9,470.
Even then, 44% of all charities don’t protect themselves with the right cyber security tools, as they don’t believe they are at risk.
